Product Care
Keep your merino soft and timeless.
Keep your merino soft and timeless.
All Blankets, Garments and Accessories are handwash only
Each Lovely Darling piece is crafted to last and made from the finest natural, undyed New Zealand merino wool. With the right care, your handknitted garments, blankets, and accessories will stay beautifully soft and timeless for years to come.
Because our knitwear is handmade and completely natural, gentle care is essential. Always handwash in cold water using a mild wool detergent, then reshape and dry flat to preserve its softness, shape, and delicate fibres. Avoid machine washing or tumble drying, as this can cause felting or shrinkage.
TO WASH
Step 1
Fill a sink, basin or tub with cold water. Avoid hot water, as it can stress the fibres and cause them to felt or fade.
Step 2
Add a small amount of wool wash, we love to use Earthwise Wool & Delicates wash. This is also a New Zealand made product and it works really well on wool.
Step 3
Place your handknit into the water and gently squeeze it to help it become saturated. Allow your item to soak for at least 15-20 minutes.
Step 4
Swirl your handknit or gently massage it to dislodge dirt.
Step 5
Drain the dirty water and gently squeeze your item against the side of the basin to remove excess water. Rinse with clean, cold water by repeating the soaking and squeezing process or
refilling the basin.
TO DRY
Step 1
Gently squeeze out as much water as possible without wringing or twisting your handknit.
Step 2
Lay your handknit between two clean dry towels and gently press down on the top towel to absorb some moisture.
Step 3
Reshape your item to it's original dimensions and dry flat on a drying rack, foam blocking board, or another dry towel to air dry completely. Avoid hanging as the handknit can stretch out of shape.
Caring for your knitwear with patience and love ensures each piece remains an heirloom. A lasting treasure to be passed from one little one to the next.
